Weaving mythic storytelling and symbolic art.

Sarah René Kraft is a fantasy-surrealist illustrator, writer, and visual storyteller from Sacramento, CA. Through her mytho-spiritual “ribbon pieces” - drawn using only red and blue double-ended pencils - she aims to create a sense of connection in a world too often unnerved by openness and feeling. Here, she invites you to peek beneath the mask to a wordless story of whimsy, heartbreak, growth, and reflection, where intimacy and isolation often occupy the same space and where our limitations and stigmas are painted as illusory and fragile as ribbon.

Next: Art Show at Sacred Nine Tattoo Studio

| Reception: Sunday, 2/18 - 4:00-9:00p.m.

As Lysander once said in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream,

“The Course of true love never did run smooth.”

Likewise, Jeremy Rathbone and I have faced our many challenges and learned much of love from one another over the years. Through a 15-year friendship, the sharing of our individual losses, our personal healing journeys, our eventual romance, a creative alliance, the inspiration we continue to draw from one-another, and the bumps in the road we continue to navigate as two once lonely kids now grown up into two neurodiverse adults, we continue to explore the many evolutions of our evolving bonds.

Therefore, it give me great pleasure for us both to be invited to show together for this post-Valentine event, celebrating the recent relocation of Sacred Nine Tattoo Studio to their new, beautiful space with spacious gallery. Please come celebrate with us!

Art will be on display during business hours at the studio shop until Sunday 5/12.

The Edwardian Ball Shoppe

“After the ball is over…”

It was both my pleasure and privilege to have shown my work in the gallery of the illustrious and magical 23rd Annual Edwardian Ball at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, 1/26 & 1/27.

I am also excited to announce that all 3 of my gold-foil Tarot Goddesses (II. The High Priestess, III. The Empress, and IV. The Star) were all adopted and have made their way to their new homes! Just one original, traditionally drawn piece still remains—

FOR APHRODITE” by Sarah René Kraft

Drawn for The Crocker Art Museum’s January Art-Mix: Mythical, this piece, featuring a confident goddess, surrounded by flying spools of red ribbon and the golden apple awarded by Paris to Aphrodite as being the most beautiful. The golden sun behind her represents the indomitable light of the creative spirit.

This piece will be up in the Edwardian Online Shoppe thru February!

WHAT IS “LEMNISCUS?”

Lemniscus (n.)

lem·nis·cus | \lem-ˈni-skəs\
Latin Lēmnis’cus, from Ancient Greek
λημνῐ́σκος (lēmnískos), meaning “RIBBON.”

1. A woolen ribbon attached to crowns, diadems, etc.

2. (anatomy) A ribbon of fibers, especially of white nerve fibers in the brain.
—See lateral lemniscus, medial lemniscus.

LEMNISCUS: THE RIBBON TAROT

A hand-illustrated venture down into the shadow, featuring chthonic figures from The Underworld in Greek Mythology paired with mental wellness lessons on awareness, self-love, and attachment. This deck-in-progress is a true labor of love that combines my passions for mythic storytelling with personal symbolism and archetypal medicine.

PATREON COMING SOON!

Until then, please consider donating in order to help Sarah in her ever-evolving mission—transforming trauma into art through combined mythology and art therapy while fighting the stigmas against both physical and mental illness.

Even $5 can help keep the lights on.<3
